I'm using the Enhanced Dictation app under the latest version of Mavericks. Is there a way to confgure the Dictation app to listen from a recorded audio file vs. live speech? I'm willing to use a 3rd party utlity or hardware accessory (cable to redirect audio back to microphone?) if necessary.
Macintosh OS X has speech functions built into the operating system, found in the Speech pane of System Preferences. Converting text to speech is very full-featured, but the built-in speech recognition system is much more limited. You can work with the built-in services in some cases, but you may need a more full-fledged dictation software. Make and edit music, voice and other audio recordings on Windows, Mac or iPhone. Download WavePad App Learn more about iPhone audio editing app. Also available for Windows, Mac. Download Pocket Dictate App Learn more about iPhone dictation recording app. Also available for Windows, Mac and Android. TempoPerfect Metronome App.

Use case: I record notes on my iPhone and would like to send them to the Dictation app for speech-to-text vs. having to place my iPhone next to my Mac's microphone for replay. Can't believe this is the best we can do in 2014!
